The 3 Things Top Earners Do In Last 2 Weeks of December?

MAKE THAT 4 THINGS ~ SORT OF


In a previous post we covered why December is the best recruiting month.  Not only is it great because prospects are never more aware of how little time and money they have but 95% of your competition has packed it in….very cool advantage.

While they’ll be trying to re-start their teams in mid-January….and MAYBE getting them going in mid-Febuary, those who leverage that knowledge will be off to the the races…..with new, well-trained reps.

Million-dollar-whiz-kid, John Cini, likes to say ‘the proof is in the print out‘ and he reports his team is experiencing its best back-to-back weeks all year……while other teams have already packed it in.

John, like most folks who have actaully, officially, made well in excess of a million bucks, does 3 simple things to finish the year strong and give themselves an insurmountable advantage in the new year.

It really is just 3 things but I am making it 4 because experience counts……so steal this idea 🙂

EXPERIENCE

KEY: Set in motion a strategy for the last 2 weeks BEFORE the last 2 weeks arrive.

This means  get this 3-prong strategy set in motion this week, by the 12th-14th  of December.

You’ve got a small window if this has not been set in motion.

FIRST THING

Schedule the same amount of recruiting time every week for the last 2 weeks of December BUT do it with respect to your family, fun and obligations by scheduling those things first.

Look, you know most, if not all, of the parties, family events, etc. already……and if your working 10 – 12 hours recruiting now, figure it out.

You’ll end up with more appointments and you’ll have a lot more fun.

How so?

Winner’s feel better about themselves……but it is more than that.

KEY: When you are having spiritual engagement, and when you’re fun and celebrating …..do exactly and precisely that.

This is HUGE:  Shut the business off, 100%.  Enjoy and understand that is why you got into this crazy networking industry.

There is nothing like KNOWING and EXPERIENCING setting your own schedule…..it will let you ‘taste’ what if feels like to be 100% present for others….to ‘touch’ the lifestyle you are shooting for.  It will bolster your commitment…..so do your schedule backwards and really feel it.

What does that mean?

Look over your Holiday commitments….write them in your book…then pick a couple extra, things you’d like to do with a loved one, friends, church and associates.

Schedule those to.

Pause. Feel.

You’ve ‘scheduled’ your life….before work.

Schedule a couple of ‘nothing’ slots…..half day, full day…..no matter ….to do nothing but enjoy yourself.

Pause and feel again……you are creating a life……for yourself and those you love.

Now, schedule your normal recruiting time.

With the major Holidays on Saturday this year…..easy……want 2 3-day weekends?  Take them……and get in your 8, 12, 15 hours as normal.

You’ll feel like a million bucks because you’ll be lining yourself up to make a million bucks…..and you’ll stay sharp instead of getting a little rusty.

Can’t say it enough…..when you are NOT working, don’t work….shut it off and enjoy …..not just what you are doing but the fact you can schedule your life FIRST.

Obviously, you want to do this …..then contact your leaders and teach it to them; if you forward this post to them 90% of your message will be conveyed and the last 10% to get them on board will be telling them you’ve already do it.

Then call their team with them and duplicate the scheduling pattern.

Don’t tell them to do it, do it with them.

SECOND THING

Get an accountability partner…..call daily….validate your schedule….yup even the days off.

Why?

It helps you connect with others, yes….but it helps you reinforce to yourself 2 great things.  The incredible fact you ‘own’ your life and your willingness to hold yourself accountable.  You’ll feel like a Pro because you are a Pro.

THIRD THING

Improve.

Get upline and teammates to listen to you make calls and get feedback.

We all get a little sloppy sometimes…..drift away from basics.

Remember the best way to improve the team is to improve yourself.

Ask for feedback, take notes…….be defenseless………embrace…….

GREAT GIFTS TO YOURSELF

By doing these 3 things and setting them in motion with your team……you and your team gain the insurmountable advantage on 2 fronts.

First, the competition has quit for the year……planning to ‘sprint’ like rabbits…..while us turtles have already won the race.

Second, you are coming into the New Year both improved as a team and with the life blood of any organzation flowing….new, excited reps.

And, the benefit of choosing your life and family first while achieving is ….well, priceless.

3 Simple Steps to Creating Synergy

ANNOYED

I can remember sitting in trainings, going events….and if I heard the word ‘synergy’ one more time I may have snapped.

It’s thrown around like the word love.

Do people really ‘love’ new floor wax?

Do they really ‘love’ their new phone, computer, car or MP3 player?

Of course not…..I get it just an expression…..but the value of ‘synergy’ is so profound that it is a shame it is used out of context.

Cooperating, being part of a team…..that is not synergy and without it, MLM is like pushing a ball up a hill with a rope.  Hard.  Way, way to hard.

Can people that cooperate do well?  Yup.

Will they attain the unattainable?

Nope.

What, exactly is synergy?

Synergy, in general, may be defined as two or more agents working together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently.

LEADERS ARE AS GUILTY AS OWNERS

Leaders blather about synergy as much as owners.  Sounds great.  Never happens because they do not teach people how to create it.

Talking about it, out of context and never explaining, ever, exactly what to do creates more harm than good.

Why?

Using the word over and over with no effect undermines our ability to lead, it weakens belief and eventually those ears go deaf and that yields to indifference.  Bye-bye.

WHAT IT IS AND LEADERS DROPPING THE BALL

Synergy, in general, may be defined as two or more agents working together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently.

Think about it…..obtaining a result that was NOT obtainable.

Think that would make a happy downline?

Make them lots of money?

Making money for others is the way to sustained success.

And no one ever told you what it actually meant or, more importantly, how to get it……me either.  That is annoying…….and dumb.

Called 10 people, leaders, the last 2 days…..folks I know.

All confessed to using it …..and all of them, eventually admitted 2 other pretty big things.

1. They could not really define it….

2. They never looked it up…

HOW TO CREATE IT

Most people have a goal statement or mission statement they wrote when they started.

Time has come off the clock and they are not much closer but they are showing up for things…chipping away.

Get a meeting with them…..if the don’t have a mission statement, help them put it together.

Step 1

OK, back to the meeting……so you’re meeting with them…..here’s what you do….let’s call her Sally.

3 Simple Steps to Synergy.

“Sally, this looks good but in 10 hours a week kinda unobtainable without synergy.  Do you know exactly what synergy is?”

The always say something like, ‘not exactly.’

Do NOT tell……show the definition.

Synergy, in general, may be defined as two or more agents working together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently.

“Sally, mine goals are a reach, a big reach too.   I would like to create synergy with you and obtain our goals.”

Get agreement.

The biggest reason networkers do not get the job done is always the same…..recruiting and sponsoring.

In this case, as with all cases, Sally is simply inconsistent, like all of us when results are poor.

Step 2 [use this vocabulary, exactly]

“We need to improve and that means we need feedback from one another.  So, would you agree to one simple ground rule: no one can make [his/her] point until they have restated the other persons point to his/her satisfaction.  Agreed?”

You’ll get 100% agreement.

“Would you be willing to look at solutions to growing our group that is BETTER THAN what we are currently doing?”

Always, the answer is yes….without fail.

Ask what you could do better on her behalf; embrace feedback

Step 3

Map out a plan that puts Sally in a prospecting mode 80-90% of the time and execute it.

Commit to the 5 Accelerators and the most effective method used by someone in your company that you like, respect and is earning the kind of money you and Sally want.

Make sure to leverage the information and methods from The Influencer in the planning portion [Step 3]

In 20 years of blessing, I have never seen working the 5 Accelerators fail to produce this stunning effect…..synergy…….were 2 or more get in lock step and they know what to do, how to do it and what to do.

It is really amazing what synergy will do………in the hands of a leader can define, empower, plan and implement.

I mean, really…….doesn’t “two or more agents working together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently,sound pretty cool?

Wouldn’t you  want to be a part of that?

THOUGHTS WHILE SHAVING

Chelsea Lynn arrives here on Kauai, December 7th.  Dreams come true, the home will be multi-generational…….. and having my dog Tommy is just an additional bonus.

My daughter faced one setback after another but had declared if she couldn’t make it all happen by herself there was no point in coming.  I get that.

I know the pride she is feeling, over coming a drop in tips of 20%, more money to move than she thought….a lot more to get her 2 dogs over here…..the list goes on BUT the list is not the point, is it?

She has a burning desire and an amazing idea for a business here.  Proud Papa moment?  You betcha.

See, that is really the bigger dream for all of us as parents……yes?  That they will dream and do…..win some, get knocked down some but that they believe in themselves and want to accomplish something important for themselves is a win for parents.

P90X

Sore, some tendonitus…..but I keep on trucking.  Just worked around the pain……down over 20 pounds, on target to hit April goal……will finish my ‘get ready’ run through on December 30th and will be in good enough shape to do P90X with them, stride for stride……I was not ready when I started and knew I needed to go through it once in 120 days…..to get in shape to ‘go for it’…..and ‘bring it’

Why am I writing about P90X?

I wanted to quit a couple times……the beginning was very hard…….just like new reps want to quit.

I did not like how far I had to go…..just like new reps….but I kept going

This list of paralells could go on and on……and, trust me, I am not bragging……this workout humbles everyone……just like networking……..

I am seeing, once again, the power of keeping a promise to myself, my family and my friends……has more to do with achievement than anything.

Maybe we should ask new reps to ‘make a promise’ instead of a goal statement? 🙂

My point is….at a few breaking points over the last several weeks it was the promise that ended up being the tipping point.

Make promising part of your life and see what happens……once you decide to ‘keep’ them no matter what.

APROPOS OF NOTHING

1. Has anyone seen all these folks who sell courses about ‘how to make money online’ ever sell anything except ‘how to make money online’?  2. Love Kauai but Christmas without harsh cold seems odd.  Santa in shorts? 3. Does anyone trust banks anymore?  4. Fast food places like Taco Bell now paying people on a debit card instead of a paycheck…..saves the money.   Poor employees must pay ATM Fees to get their money out.  Daughter made 4 taps on the card costing her, in ATM fees, about an hour’s wages.  5. See point 4……and tell me you don’t have anyone to talk to.

We know it but we still think about crap, doom and failure……as long was we keep thinking we ‘don’t watch that much TV’ and we’re ‘not online that much’………shut that all off for a week and notice what it feels like…..and where your mind wanders…….then read this quote again.  A 17 day juice fast with no TV, inter-webbie-thing or phone changed everything.

Everything?

Very strange times we are in…….I cannot even begin to understand the microwave mentality of people ‘trying’……for a week or two……

Next stop are the ‘gurus’…..who have ‘systems’ …..and create ‘traffic’…….

Met a guy in 11 deals last week…..crazy…..all it takes to make it with any company is deciding it is going to turn out well.

4 Things We Must Do To Activate Covey’s 8th Habit and Grow

COVEY’S 8th HABIT

The idea behind Covey’s 8th Habit is finding our voice…….We’ve covered the bases about how to discover it, how to use it to create influence and how to declare intention…….but to use our voice to activate our teams and get duplication is the bottom line.

There are just 4 little things we need to do to make that happen and it will drive your team into the sweet spot of duplication than anything I have discovered in 20 years.

These are 4 easy to manage disciplines for people who have found their voice.

These disciplines, along with some simple skills,  vastly improve the teams ability to focus, express power and execute the top priority, recruiting.

1. Focus on the Wildly Important.

It is the nature of people to focus on one thing at a time….and…..that is not always the one thing that will drive a business, talking to people.   The more goals we set of the team, the less likely they will be achieved.  get everyone on the same page, same goal……and the probability of that one thing getting accomplished goes up dramatically.  In networking, people tend to want to do other things …..instead of contacting prospects…..which is where the money really is.

Teach and preach this mantra….”The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing….because it it the main thing.”  The main thing is contact prospects and invite them to review information.

The main thing is the wildly important thing.  Focus on this one thing and keep your team focus on recruiting and don’t dilute it with other choices.

2. Create a Compelling Scoreboard

Athletes play differently in a game than in practice, they kick it up a notch.   If winning was not important, why would they keep score?  Winning is important and setting up a scoreboard for people to measure themselves and compete with others works.  Offering incentives on a weekly or monthly basis [weekly seems to work better], for new reps and group that grows the most percentage-wise and having the results on a website ….is a compelling.  Successful people tend to be competitive, recognition driven and team orientated.

Seeing their name and picture up there is a big thing.  Not seeing it up there is also a big thing.  It brings out the best in people.  Make it fun.

3. Translate Goals Into Specific Actions

The biggest mistake I see people make….year in and year out…..is NOT connecting what someone wants to what they have to do to get it.  There is no industry on the planet where what to do, specifically, is so clear.

We don’t need multi-tasking skills….people do not need to be magicians to build a big business.  They just have to do 1 thing over and over.  Simple.

Link talking to prospects to what they want and make sure you help them take inventory every week.

Inventory?

Simple.  How many hours did you work last week?…..how many hours contacting prospects?

Keep this at 80+% and help them make sure that they are making 15 calls per hour….a nice pace for anyone.  I aim for 20+ but 15 is a great number.

Breakdown what they need to do weekly into daily tasks.

4. Hold Each Other Accountable – All The Time

Accountability sessions are the only way to bind together the first 3 points.

They key here is understanding you have to be doing what you are asking them to do.

This, again the elegance of our industry, is so easy….no big committee meetings or any of that time-consuming stuff.

This can be done with a simple 60 second laser call where both people say what they are going to do and why and verify what they said they were going to do yesterday.

Might sound like this: “I am making 25 dials today to help get my husband off the road.  Yesterday I said I would make 25 calls and I did, got 4 great prospects”  The partner then does the same thing.

These 4 tiny steps turn Covey’s 8th Habit, finding our voice into a living force that duplicates.

It was these 4 actions that ended up being the bridge between a great idea and results.

Talent is Never Enough ~ 6 Things Passion Does That Leaders Know

TALENT IS NEVER ENOUGH

Yesterday we covered 3 things you gotta buy into to lead.

1. Believe in your potential.

2. Believe in yourself.

3. Believe in your mission.

In John C. Maxwell’s book “Talent is Never Enough” he makes it clear, and I’ve experienced this over and over, that talent is overrated and as a result most people miss the opportunities to draw talent out of people.  Since we all know networking is just talking to people the trick is not to find talent but to draw talents out of people.

This takes observation and energy.  Here’s a major breakthrough both myself and my wife, The Fabulous Davene, experienced.  Once we picked a mission, getting parents home with their kids while making great money, we derived tons of energy through our passion.

PASSION ENERGIZES YOUR TALENT

Talent will not carry anyone to the top of any pay plan or the top of any business.   A stong case can be made that passion is ever more important than a plan.

Why?

Passion provides fuel, ignites fire and makes obstacles and setbacks inconveniences instead of roadblocks.

Here’s 6 reasons to find passion, the handmaiden to success.

1. Passion is the first step to achievement. The thrill of getting a single mom home with her kids, a working mom or dad home with the kids is what we love to do.  Dialing the phone, dealing with company challenges, personalities and Ego drove both of us crazy until we fell in love with what we do.  What we do is use network marketing so we can live in what we love doing.  Getting families together that no longer carry the burden of financial stress.

2. Passion increases willpower. We all don’t want to recruit all the time.  I go through periods where not only do I not want to recruit, I go through periods where I want to hate it.  Prior to inflaming myself with passion about a cause I would go through periods where I just wouldn’t pick up the phone.  I had, at times, very little willpower and would watch TV and eat Ice Cream instead of recruiting.  Passion increased my willpower against the distractions and eventually eliminated the need for willpower.

3. Passion produces energy. There’s no other way to say this: Building a large organization and achieving high pin levels is a long and difficult road.  It’s takes energy and passion about the prize for others has tapped this endless reservoir for both of us

4. Passion is the foundation for excellence. We’ve both seen average people transform before our eyes once their passion takes over.  The passionate are willing to practice, improve, take coaching and covet feedback.  These are the 4 cornerstones to excellence.

5. Passion is the key to success. There are 2 types of people in the world.  There’s the type of people who look at a challenge and say “Why?” and there’s the type of people who look at a challenge and say “Why Not?”  The difference?  One type has vision the other one does not.  When you can see the invisible you can do the impossible.  When you get right down to it people with passion have a vision, they believe it before others can see it.  And all success gets down to this one thing:  Vision.

6. Passion makes a person contagious. We’ve all been around enthusiastic people and felt our energy go up.  But when the enthusiasm is a by-product of a person’s passion they become contagious.  I mean, think about it, don’t all networkers want to be contagious?  We want to spread like a virus and duplication in networking, after all the systems, diagrams and charts always seems to happen more often and more easily with the passionate.

Duplication is caught ……it’s not taught.

Are you contagious?

When, in Ancient Greece, someone died, the did not do a eulogy…….they simply asked on question.

7 Things You Can Do Right Now to Improve Your Team

BEST WAY TO IMPROVE THE TEAM

The best way to improve the team is to improve oneself.”  John Wooden

There seems to be this insatiable appetite for leads, lead generation and lists….like that will solve all the problems we encounter on the way to obtaining our objective.

Sadly, nothing could be further from the truth.  While it never hurts to find prospects we need to be more concerned with the conversion rate than the number of prospects.

Hyperbole is a great way to put this in perspective, to gain an insight.

LET’S PLAY WITH NUMBERS

If you started with 10,000 prospects and made 200 bucks on a sale…..and sold 1 in 10,000 …would it really matter if you got another 10,000 prospects every month?

Course not.

We built an organization of over 10,000 people from 337 names and numbers.  The organization began producing over 2.5 million in sales by the end of the second year……

Not bragging or complaining…..but it was the steps we took to improve ourselves that made the achievement possible.

HOW DO WE IMPROVE?

Ultimately, our communication skills will decide our fate.  If we can improve this skill everything gets better……

We become better:

  • Prospectors
  • Recruiters
  • Coaches
  • Trainers
  • Leaders

BUY A COURSE?

Nothing against them ….but most of them are generic and just rehash the same stuff and talk about lofty stuff and won’t help anyone discover the blind spot or spots.

Additionally, most them them are about how to manage people…….that is a red flag.

People don’t want to be managed……do you?

You need to find out exactly what you can do, tomorrow….or better yet …what can you do right now to improve.

ASK FOR FEEDBACK

Here is a little 7 step feed-back formula you can implement every 90 days….and it will pay dividends on many, many levels.

Do this with your leaders……ask them to be harsh…..to say what they mean.  Assure them you are interested in improving, not being patronized.

You can do it on a conference call and email this list to them…..print out the feedback and ask others you trust of go over it and see if it covers all your areas that need improvement or are there others?

The 7 questions are below the video

  1. Ask: When I communicate, do you understand me? Am I clear about the message, wishy-washy, vague, precise?  Am I …..to detailed…..not detailed enough…..boring….to fast?
  2. Ask: Do I favor one type of communication too much? We all have a tendency to favor one type of communication over all others.  Find out if there is a more preferred method…..and/or if the method you are using is an area that needs improvement.  EXAMPLE: Maybe you do webcasts and always start late….or you are too fast or to slow with the material.  EXAMPLE 2: Maybe you always use email….they are too long or cover too many things at once…..any you’ve forgotten email, like all communication, is a two-way street.
  3. Ask: If I could improve one thing when communicating with the group, what would that be? You might be surprised, we sure were.  I used a lot of audio and covered lots of things.  My folks let me know this felt one way…..they’d click on a link and hear me…..but did not know how to respond and the messages were, as a key rep wrote…..TOOOOOOO LOOOOOOONG.  Get to the point and make it once I was told ….instead of making the same point 2-3 ways.  Most understood I was trying to make sure they understood but I was able to discover that my earnest efforts were coming across as condescending.  Wow, did that help.
  4. Ask: If I could improve one thing when communicating with you personally, what would that be? Folks seem to be OK telling you about the group communication but hesitate about the one-on-one stuff.  With a little encouragement…telling them you want to improve….they’ll unload.  Feel blessed, never defend and believe they just gave you the keys to the vault.
  5. Ask:  Do you feel you have enough support?  Listen, do not defend.  We discovered a huge blind spot….people felt supported when they could get us but felt getting us was difficult, nearly impossible.  We simply made ourselves available for 4 hours each on Fridays.  It changed everything.
  6. Ask: Would you please name at least one area I need to improve in? By now they’ll be rolling and you’ll be learning how to lead better and communicate better.
  7. Ask: Could you please name something we are not doing that we could that would help you specifically? This is great, they feel part of the planning process and what ever they tell you, pull out your appointment book and schedule it.

We continued to run this to lots of teammates for 3 years…..and it paid massive dividends.  It gave a clear direction about where we could improve and it yielded some darn good suggestions about what to implement team wide.

We improved, the team appreciated it and the leaders duplicated our actions by running the same questions by their teams so they could improve

…..the lines of communication swung open…..and….open lines, with constructive feedback…..fosters trust, accelerates growth and lowers cost.

WWJD for Networkers Who are Stuck…..Confessions of an Egocentric Blamer & Sunday Thoughts While Shaving

MENTAL BEINGS

Well, let’s run this up the flagpole and see who salutes it…

Not to worry, not preaching coming at fellow networkers here but the truth be told it was the changes within my soul that created changes within me…..and I certainly did not make those changes, I was not the source of the shift within….everybody on some kind of path knows this about themselves and others.

Examining the relationship we have in our chosen spiritual pursuit and business seems to be more than OK….it is necessary.

Some would argue that there is no other way to see it …..and my point of view is a person’s spiritual life is private and the knee jerk reaction is we may be treading on thin ice …..I am sure you’ll let me know.

So let’s get to the real root of how the ‘World’s Laziest Networker’ actually came into being.  After all, less time at work and peace of mind surely makes service to the Source of All Good easy to engage in.

OUR BEING

We are mental beings.

We occupy a physical body but at our absolute core we are mental, spiritual beings.

This knowledge makes or breaks us in…….life, love and business.   Understanding this is the first step, and the journey cannot begin on the 73rd Step or 122nd Step.  It’s gotta start with the first step.

It is this step that puts us on the road to freedom and prosperity.

As long as we believe we are some kind of superior animal, that is….. if we believe we are supposed to use our physical gifts – back, legs, brain etc – to overcome circumstances we are really in jail, in bondage as Emmit Fox liked to say.

Why?

Because our thoughts, our habits of thinking, make is impossible to see the Truth.

That Truth is we are mental beings.

What does this mean and how does it apply to building a business?  To improving lives of others?

Simple.

It means that trying to overcome or improve physical conditions, [not enough time, not enough people to talk to, no upline support etc.], is trying to improve our environment without changing our minds.

We are trying to change the our personal physical world/conditions – which were created by us mentally in the first place. 🙂

The Master Teacher said ‘Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first what is in the cup and platter that the outside of them may be clean also.’

Change outside, in our conditions….. must come from within.

MLM MANTRA

We say it but do we listen ourselves to the standard MLM Mantra?

….for things to change, you have to change and for things to get better, you have to get better

Heard it before?  Yup.

Said it before?

In my case 1000s of times.

WHAT A DOPE

I should have been saying for things to get better, I have to get better and for things to change…I have to change.

Do you see how dopey I was?  I was trying to control my business, create a success mentality, by controlling the conditions around me.  🙂

So what did I get?  A lot of people telling other people they had to change but not changing themselves.

Folks, never worry about duplication.  Worry about WHAT you do instead….because whatever you do will be duplicated by the ones looking to you for leadership.

In essence….no one would plant a flower and expect a bulb to grow, right? Yet trying to change the conditions, which I created anyway, is EXACTLY like trying to plant a flower and grow a bulb.

WWJD?

Once I ‘got it’ …….that we are mental beings and to change the conditions I need to change my mind….I asked for help, knowing full well that for me it was impossible but I knew ‘The One’ could transform me.

So I changed my mind…..OK,OK….that’s pretty egotistical…..I surrendered.

We are told by all the illuminated ones from great philosophers to great thinkers to Buddha to The Master Teacher …..

…..if it is good for you and does not take anyone else’s good and involves service to others, the Divine will supply the resources, energy, well everything.

Being the Laziest Networker in the World took more effort than the title would lead you to believe.

It was hard, hard work to surrender 44 years of thinking one way.

But it did not have to be that hard….I just kept thinking I could change myself.

The actual shift was easy…….it was just hard getting to the easy part because of ego.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Still looking at the conditions…people to talk to, time, unsupportive spouse, under capitalized, lousy good for nothing upline?

……and thinking when they change …..your business will grow?

Understanding that change in the outer world must come from the inner world and …..that I am not the one who does the changing…..is the path to change.

So…you know what is coming next right?

100% ANYTHING LESS WILL NOT DO

Take 100% responsibility for where we are at…….without judgement……get honest about what area or areas need improvement……surrender and ask for help…..while committing to being in service to others in the area you struggled in…..

WWJD for someone who does this and asks for help so s/he can serve others?

And you thought we improved with bullheaded persistence? 🙂

THOUGHTS WHILE SHAVING

First revision?  Said I regret not moving over here 2 years ago.

I am revising that to 5 years ago when I first landed in Kauai and knew in 10 minutes this was it.

P90X UPDATE

At one point in this insane series of workouts Tony Horton says…..about one of the workouts…..”I hate it, but….I love it”

I am there, on track and still have a pulse.

Finishing up my first 90 days in 115 as planned to get ready to do it all in 90 days….and finish before the Bride’s Birthday so we can take an 11 mile hike to Kalalau Valley.    45 pounds to go…..down 20.

APROPOS OF NOTHING

1. Why are people addicted to leads? Does anyone know anyone who has built a duplicating organization with leads?  I am not saying what one of the con artist, system pushing morons sell…or the testimonials on their pages say….I mean do YOU know anyone, personally?  From Boston to Kauai they call that a ‘CLUE’  2.  Pros get paid to play, amateurs pay money to watch Pros play.  Ironic, eh?  3. Greatness lies within every person who ever said, “wow” about the achievements of another.  You can’t see it if it is not within you.  4. My favorite player & pitcher Doc Haladay lost game 1 of the championship round.  Umpire missed a strike and on the next pitch Ibanez drops a catch-able ball.  2 runs score afer Roy what should have been the 3rd out.TWICE.  After the game Haladay talks only about what he did wrong….class act and a great lesson for all us work-at-home blame machines. 5. Funny thing….the Fabulous Davene, my blind Mom and myself…..since we’ve been in Kauai have eaten nothing but organic foods….and local protien…..no one has had a single health problem…..what the hell is in the food that is packaged?

Talked with good friend Nancy DelRossi today…. someone is dying and my good friend of the last 6 years just died…..I know what Nancy is going through but the conversation was amazing.  Life is too short and you never know what you’ve got left…..2 years, 10 years …….30 years…..whatever …..she says.  And?  We both decided anyone can blow out an MLM deal if they get off their asses [OK,OK, if we get off ours] …in 12 months…..making the time left priceless…..Thanks Nancy……inspiration within sorrow.  Remarkable.

What Personality Type Are You? Sunday’s Thoughts While Shaving

I WISH I’D PAID ATTENTION

Personality typing is not new.

I first learned about it when I got my first promotion back in 1972.

Working with Combined Insurance I was being groomed for management and they let me into the ‘inner circle.’

I was told that the company spends a lot of money developing and training the reps and I needed to know what questions to ask so if the application and little aptitude test they filled out was authentic…..so we’d only hire people who had a chance.

The 4 types were Amiable-Analytical-Dreamer-Driver

Next company, Britannica, used same type of test only the 4 types were Talker-Controller-Doer-Pacer.

Same stuff.

Your job as a manager was to hire the right ones [type] and learn how that type liked AND did not like to be coached.

I wish I’d paid more attention.  Wouldn’t have suffered in the 1980’s so much with MLM.

ANIMALS

I’ve seen similar types of profiles explained as animals and part of nature…..all pretty much the same.

There is a problem with animals like Loin and Dog ….. and terms like Controller or Driver…..when ‘typing people…..those words create an instant prejudice or feeling in the mind of people you are teaching it to.

Why is that important?

Well, quite simply, it can skew our assessment.

How important it that?

It is everything.

A few years back Jerry ‘Rhino’ Clark, broke the personalities into 4 types….and, then Tom “Big AL” Schreiter ran with this ‘color’ training….and the keys to the vault were found.

I mean, colors don’t trigger thoughts and feelings…..so we can be less influenced by our own experience and focus on discovering their type …..and, again…..that is EVERYTHING.

EVERYTHING?

Why everything?

If communication is not our top priority, all our other priorities are at risk.

Once you know a ‘type’ you can pick words and phrases, along with your message that each type responds positively to.

In recruiting the initial benefit is obvious…..with just a few words, the correct words for that type, the prospect is ready to buy and ready to join.

Ready to ‘buy’ your next suggestion and ready to ‘join’ you with an open mind in reviewing your offer.

But that’s not the real benefit…..getting virtually everyone to say ‘yes’ is great but the bigger benefit is you can be honest……and this changes everything.

People who stick and are productive want honesty, they are attracted to it.

Listening skills being taught today are about pseudo conversations, how to ask questions so you can eventually use the information to bring up your opportunity…..to use the prospects words against them….to pretend to be interested in them so they will think you are nice…..in other words, the gurus are teaching folks to ‘cloak’ their agenda and manipulate the conversation so they think your interested in them as a person.

Trust me on this….if people are too dumb to see what you’ve been doing all along in the conversation and you sponsor them, they just won’t have what it takes to build a big business.

And if you believe the ‘listening’ techniques you are using are sincere, that we are asking questions because we ‘really care’ and not being manipulative, then that means we should have made friends with a few folks who did not join…right?

Can you imagine knowing in seconds the core type of personality of a prospect and not have to fake being interested…..being able to be totally upfront about what you want them to look at and they instantly agree….?

How would you feel about yourself if you could be direct and knew 90+% would say, “Sure, love to see what you have?”

Once we step into this level, everything changes…..we feel better about ourselves, fear and nerves vanish and it’s fun.

People want to join us if we are having fun and making money….and feel really good about how we do it….agreed?….yes?

IT’S EVEN BIGGER

Everybody knows the real work begins after we sponsor a rep……sponsoring people is easy once you know how.

When we are new, we don’t think so but after we learn a couple of simple skills, like personality-typing and know which words, phrase and thoughts get affirmative response we quickly learn that the real work takes place after they enroll.

Has this ever happened to you?

You give 2 reps the same task….tell them in the same way.

One does it.  The other does not.

Why?

Your words were the same but they meant different things to each of them.

What if you knew what to say to both of them….how to communicate with both types…..your production just doubled?

IT’S EVEN BIGGER

Imagine folks in your organization along with yourself know what to say to invite, motivate and teach…..effectively because you all understood the do’s and do not’s with each type of personality.

Duplication does not break down…..communication does.

REGRET

I am sitting in Seekonk, MA listen to Big Al lay out the colors.

I am stunned and regretting not paying more attention to the corporate training I had on this.

2 hour ride home…wondering if I can find all that stuff…freaked out because I knew there was a formula in the material to be able to have a much higher degree of accuracy.

Fortunately, my bride, The Fabulous Davene, is a ‘yellow’…..loves helping others and outstanding with organization.

She’s got my stuff….and I combined the color typing with these corporate insights to create a hybrid chart so anyone can instantly identify a person’s type……..well you need two TINY pieces of information…..

While most people are happy with 50% accuracy….there is a simple chart we created to help you be accurate 80% of the time the first week and 90+% from there on.

We did a one-time webcast on this Sunday, August 29th.

P90X UPDATE

What is it about networker’s and piling things on a full plate?

Are we all obsessive or is it just me?

P90X is going ……hard…..right now.  1 month down…..and I am looking at 90 days to get in shape enough to do it perfectly ……so I am on a 6 month plan.

90 to get ready…..then 90 again.

Of course I am sore….and getting ready to launch into the 26 week Master Key Course [make sure your on our email list if you are looking for a scholarship, news coming next week sometime]…..my dog is getting shipped to Kauai, we are moving 2 doors down and my daughter, who was just visiting decided instead of waiting till March of 2011…she is moving in with us in November.

I need to be in shape for all this stuff and special thanks to my friend Doug Karnuth who has done it and encouraged me…..it’s nice to have friends who help you along the way………just like MLM.

APROPOS OF NOTHING

1. Do people who complain about money really believe they don’t have the time to do networking? 2. If we don’t have the time to do it right, when will we have the time to do it over? (think about that for a minute, yikes)  3.  Is every tweet either about what someone is doing that no one in the world cares about or pitching something?  Geez….4. Red Sox play Tampa 6 times in 12 days….everything is on the line for the entire season…..sure glad networking is more forgiving and patient with me.  5. Pete Rose, all-time hit leader still not in the Hall of Fame…..but drug users and cheaters cashing checks for 10-20 million a year and being cheered.  And they think we’re nuts for doing ‘one of those pyramid things?”

5 UPDATES FROM MY MENTORS

Luck is tied to risk.  Risk is about saying yes to the universe ……and express to the universe that you believe.   Percentage players die broke.  The only thing that is important about mistakes is that we learn from them…….but Albert’s right…..if we aren’t making mistakes and learning we are not growing, if we’re not growing we’re dead.

2. Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile. Yup, Albert.

We say we want to help other’s grow, learn and succeed.  But do we know their goals?  Have them?  Read them?  Daily?

While puffing ourselves in the virtue of helping others…….maybe we should look at the evidence.

If we don’t know them and their goals we can claim we are trying to help others but in reality we are just trying to get them to build for us…..is that a life worthwhile?

3. Perfection of means and confusion of ends seem to characterize our age…Albert, again…..pretty smart guy, eh

Twitter, Face-book, systems, pay plans…..CDs, video, websites…..YIKES….people know that stuff better than their dreams.

I miss Carson.

Networking does not always seem fair……but in the end…..the ones who dedicate themselves to a company and helping others….seem to balance out the frustration and bad breaks with a life second to none.  Networking is the fairest thing I have ever seen.
